The perfect day completely by accident

Yesterday was wonderful. Emerson woke up at 7:45 am after having a near perfect nights sleep. I was already awake and piddling around the house when I overheard her squealing in her room. It was precious.

After she took an hour and 15 minute nap in her crib, we went to see Jennifer and baby Jaylee. They are doing well and getting adjusted to their new world together. It was so sweet holding a tiny baby again. It is amazing how quickly you forget what the newborn stage is like.

I put Emerson down for her afternoon nap at 1:00 pm. Steve got home at 1:30 and I went shopping to spend my birthday money:) I got lots of great stuff and it was so fun to spend a few hours on my own actually getting stuff for me. I kind of lost track of time and before I knew it, it was 4:00 pm. It was time for Emy to eat and I had not instructed Steve of this before I left home because I thought I would be back by then. I called him frantically to apologize for running late, tell him I was on my way home and to feed Emy. Steve informed me that she was still asleep! What?!!?!?! She had been asleep for 3 hours...in her crib! This was a complete shock. I immediately told him to go check to make sure she was still breathing. At this point I am pulling in the driveway. I walk in the door and Steve is holding a very smiley Emerson. He said he quietly went in there to check on her and she just looked up at him with her big grin. So, I guess her "long" afternoon nap has finally developed. Yippee!!!

The rest of the evening was great. Emy was on her best behavior and had no problem staying awake 4 hours until her bedtime. What a great day!

Today we are going to take 6 month pictures. Hopefully we will get at least one good shot. The problem: I scheduled the pics before knowing that Emy would transition into a long nap, so they are at 2pm. Hopefully this will still work out and she will get back to the long nap tomorrow...we will see.

Love,
Sabrina
