I should have known better

This morning I got up a little before 7am just like normal. I checked my email, fixed my hair, ate breakfast, just kind of piddled around waiting for Emy to wake up. She is normally up between 7:15-7:30.

At 8:15 I am wondering what the heck? I am running through our day yesterday trying to think of an excuse why she would be so tuckered out. At this point I hear a strange sound coming from her room. Almost like a clicking sound.

I go in to find this:
Her diaper caddy and its entire contents are strewed about in her crib.
About 10 wet wipes are thrown around

She was playing with the hand sanitizer. Thank goodness she could not figure out the pump feature. (The clicking sound was her trying to put the lid back on the bottle)

Ya'll, the craziest thing is that I have no idea how she got it into her crib. OBVIOUSLY she lifted it from the shelf over the railing, but it is pretty heavy and big and awkward for such a little girl. Oh well, I guess it will remain a mystery--until the next time she does it.

Cuteness in Pigtails

Since the weather has warmed up and summer has officially arrived, Emerson has actually let me put pigtails in her hair. I think she realizes that it keeps her much cooler. Whatever the reason, I have been thoroughly enjoying it. She is just too cute.

Waiting by the backdoor to go outside and play.

Waiting by the back fence for daddy to come homeSitting on her reading pillows having a snack and checking out some books. Another thing she is fond of now that summer is here is her sunglasses. She wants to wear them all the time.

Playing in the bubbles outside with baby
Check out those curls!

School's in session...

As if I have nothing else going on in my free time, I am now in grad school! Well, actually BACK in grad school is more appropriate.

I started my masters program at UNT 4 or 5 years ago when I was working. The program is geared toward getting a masters in merchandising- a dream program for me! Anyways, I took a couple of classes every semester that I could and slowly worked my way through. When I got pregnant with Emerson I was so overwhelmed (and sick) that I decided to take some time off eventhough I was so close to finishing.

Well, time just flys and look at me, I have been out of the program for 2 years! I thought that my credits would last forever and I could just jump in and finish at any time. Wrong!

My advising professor, who is an angel, literally tracked me down 2 weeks ago. All the contact information she had for me had changed- Literally all of it- address, phone number, email, everything. She took the liberty to look me up in the phonebook and call our house! Isn't that wonderful. It was so funny because I came home and there was this message saying--"I don't know if you are the right person or not, but if you are the Sabrina working toward her masters at UNT, pleae call me!"

So, I called her to find out that if I don't FINISH the program by Spring 2010 then I will start losing credit hours. NOOOOO! We sat down and looked at the schedule- I only need 3 more classes- 9 hours- to finish. It just so happened (yea right- God is divine in His timing) that the 3 classes I need to finish are all offered between now and spring- and the best part is that they are offered one at a time- so, I don't have to double up on classes.

As of yesterday I am officially in summer school! I am taking one class this summer and then one in the fall and one in the spring. I am excited about the class I am taking this summer. It is based on something in Merchandising that I FIRMLY believe in. I have super strong opionions and will thoroughly enjoy sharing them with my classmates.

The bummer about the whole thing is that the fall and spring classes I have left are going to be doozies with a capital D. They are super hard, not a part of my major but a part of the general masters program. They have been put off until the end for a reason. Ugh...

Seeing the future

I could not help but snap these shots. I just know that in 10 years (or less) this is all we will see of Emerson...

June GAM

Yes, I know I missed May's goal all together...the thing about it is that it took me 2 months to complete April's goal of reading The Shack. Isn't that ridiculous? Oh well, I did get it finished and I loved it! I am so glad that I made time to read something fun that is not about parenting...Not that parenting books aren't great, but it was a nice break.

Now, for June's goal: To get all my paperwork filed and organized...This does not sound like a lofty goal to most, but if you knew the amount of paperwork to file, you would understand how lofty this goal actually is. So, I just need to find a couple days to carve out in order to find time to do this:)

Any of you have goals for June?

No, I mean Yes

Emerson is all about the "No" right now. She has several different "no's"for different situations. She has a shy, quiet and barely audible "No". She uses it when she is being silly or shy. Then she has a long and drawn out "No" that she uses when she is just saying no to say no. Luckily (knock on wood) we have not gotten to the screaming tantrum "No", yet.

Emerson is hillarious because she gets so into saying no that she often says no when she means yes. For example, if she is fussing, I will go through a list of questions to find out what is wrong...

"Emerson, are you tired?"

"No"

"Are you hungry?"

"No"

"Are you thirsty?"

"No"
"Do you want to read"

"No"

"Are you hungry?"

"No"

"Are you hungry?"

"No"

"Are you hungry?"

...Pause...."Yes"-- Of course, you are!

I have to say that I am super thankful for how well she responds to questions though. It has made things so helpful and communication is getting easier eventhough she is not talking yet.

Here are some photos from a backyard photoshoot the other day.

Hope you have a great week.
