Class pictures and a new hat

Have I ever told you that Emerson is terrified of photographers? I think this is such a funny development because I chase her with a camera all day long and she is just fine with it. When it comes to professionals though, she is a really really scared.

I knew that she had been through a stage of being terrified in the past. It was quite obvious because everytime we would enter a photography studio she would panic. This is when I decided that we could not do that anymore and met a friend-of-a-friend, Amber. She is an amazing photographer who lived in our area (and doesn't anymore-Boo!). This was the perfect set-up because she would come to our house or meet us somewhere non-threatning and she would get some great shots of Emerson.

Enter preschool- In January Emerson was schduled for school pictures. I knew it would not go well and had resigned to the fact that my first school photo of Emerson would certainly have tears. I was fine with this. Wrong-O. Emerson was so terrified and hysterical that she would not even sit on the bench for the photographer. So, lo-and-behold, there is not even a terrified negative or digital image to document my child's first year at school. Nothing at all.

Last week, Emerson's class was scheduled to have their class picture taken. Not sure why they do this seperately from the individual shots, but oh well. Anyways, apparently the entire class was lined up and ready to take the shot and Emerson would not release her death grip on the teacher. Miss Tracie says that she was trembling and on he verge of a major breakdown. Miss Tracie decided that she could not have her class photo (of 5 students) with 1 not shown. So, the entire class did not take a picture! Sorry mommies, my drama queen ruined it for us all.

As an alternative we decided that I would take a casual class photo today at school. I prepared Emerson for the event over breakfast this morning assuring her that MOMMY would be taking the picture, not a stranger. She was okay with this situation. So, here is a very unprofessional image of Emerson's first preschool class. Aren't they precious?

These are pics of Emerson's new hat for this year. If you recall (which I am sure you won't) she had a similar hat last summer and loved it. The old hat is too small and we decided that she needed a new one. It is a hit.

Spring!

Spring is finally here! The best thing about this time of year is all the fun we have getting back outdoors. Emerson literally just runs and screams in the backyard for hours...as if she has been waiting all winter to do it. It is precious and hillarious at the same time.

Here is a cute picture of Emerson enjoying the backyard after church today.

In other news, to tell you more about our "announcement"...we are due September 15th. This pregnancy has been so similar and yet so different from the one with Emerson. I have been so tired this time and already look significantly pregnant even though I am only 16 weeks. We are set to find out the gender on April 19th. So excited about this...Any guesses as to what this baby is?

Um, I don't even know what to say after this long...

I am pretty sure that all 5 of my loyal blog readers probably don't follow any more seeing as there has not been a new post in almost 2 months! TERRIBLE! Can you ever forgive me?

It is not that there has not been anything going on, because there has been plenty going on. We have had tons of snow, a few illnesses, a major exam that determines if I graduate from grad school (still waiting on results), and plenty of new development stuff from Emerson.

Hopefully I will get all that stuff covered in a recap or two in the near future. In the meantime, I leave you with this...A cute pic of Emerson in her new tshirt.

What do you think?
