Bluebonnets

I can't believe Emerson is 4.5 years old and we have never done bluebonnets. What a horrible Texas parent I am! I will say that it is not for lack of trying though. I have looked and looked for a good spot for the past several years. It seems there are a lot of great spots on the highway but that is too risky for my taste.

After Emerson's soccer game yesterday, Steve and I happened to find a perfect spot. We went tonight after dinner and we were armed with treats. The kids were a delight and certainly enjoyed the candy:) And it was super helpful having Steve there to help direct the kids. These are hands-down the best images of my kids together that I have ever gotten. The key is apparently having daddy around!

Sleeping Baby

I have always wanted to snap a picture of my children sleeping. Not newborn-photos-sleeping, but sleeping as children. As dreaming, innocent, precious children. I just kinda figured it would never happen because they wake up on their own and are always sleeping in dark rooms so logistically, I could not see it happening.

Well today, an opportunity presented itself. Ashton fell asleep in the car this morning while we were running errands. I got home and got him out of the car and he stayed asleep on my shoulder. Lately when this has happened, I just carry him around the house for a few minutes until he wakes up. You see, he has dropped his morning nap and I don't want to put him in his bed for a full nap until after lunch.

Anyways, I was holding him and holding him and I really needed to pee. So, purely out of necessity I laid him on our bed while I ran to our bathroom. I fully expected him to wake up crying the second I laid him down. Nothing. I flush and nothing. I walk over to pick him up and it dawns on me...the light was decent. He is laying on white sheets. He is OUT COLD.

I saw the opportunity and jumped at it. I quietly sneak over and grab my camera bag and get everything set. Again, I fully expected him to wake up after the first shot (cameras are loud!). Again, nothing. So, I just snapped and snapped away. He stirred and moved around once, but that was it.

It was totally a gift this morning. Not posed. Not fake. But real sleeping. My sweet boy.

Yesterday afternoon

The weather has been amazing lately. The kids played outside for an hour after naps while we waited for daddy to come home. They were extra silly and the light was extra pretty so I snapped some shots of my own kids (which I have not done in a while).

Possibly the cutest thing you have ever seen

Ash is doing so good sitting all by himself. He can do it for a long time before he starts to really lean and then inevitably tip over. He was pretty proud of himself sitting in this chair all by himself (don't panic, my arm was outstretched toward him and just out of view the entire time).

It is also noteworthy that he finally slept through the night last night! Praise the Lord! I am sure that I have just jinxed myself and that he won't again for a while, but I don't care. I am shouting from the rooftops that I finally got an entire night's sleep. It was awesome.

We went to the zoo yesterday and this was Ash. He was so cute. Just watching the big kids have so much fun (and listening to his sister cry and scream the entire time) tuckered him out:)
I can't believe that he is going to be 6 months old in just a few days. Seriously, is that really possible?

In the backyard

Now that spring is here and the weather is better all I want to do is get the kiddos outside. I feel like we have been cooped up forever!

Here is Ash in the backyard this afternoon. He was watching Daddy toss the ball with the dog.

Look who is trying to sit up all by himself?

New business and my little model

Emy helped me scout a new location for my new business venture. You can check it out here. (The site is just barely up and has not been filled with information yet- I have a lot of photos to download so stay tuned)

She had a blast (if you can't tell!)

This location was super fun because within a 50 foot radius it had railroad tracks, a pond, benches, trees and graffiti. I can't wait to get out there again when everything is in bloom.
