Pictures Pictures Pictures

It is time for everyone's favorite time of the week (or at least I assume that because it is my favorite time). Here is our week in pictures.

Emerson loves to play with all of her toys at once. This way she can pull them out of the basket one by one.Smile for the camera

Oooo, she has Toby's ball. She is IN LOVE with Toby's ball. I swear it is the toy that is going to propel her into actual crawling.

Playing with mommy

She loves to squeeze mandarin oranges in her hands and watch the juice drip out.Of course, next comes rubbing around in all the juice.See, I can clap!
Emerson loves our cat, Bailey.
So excited.

Sewing creations this week:
A couple of taggie blankets for friends.

A pile of burp cloth orders from ebay:)

Some onesie orders

Made this sweet set for a friend who just had a girl.

Sorry this is sideways...it is for a friend who is obviously having a boy.

I am also working on some new stuff in addition to a couple of gifts (I can't show you those because they have not been recieved yet and I know these girls check the blog from time-to-time)

Have a great weekend!

Can I get a round of applause?

Emerson started clapping today! We have been trying to teach her for a while now. This morning she was playing in her exersacuer while I did some dishes in the kitchen. I turned around to come get her and I exclaimed, "Emerson! Here I come!..." As I said this and started walking over, she started clapping. It was like she finally figured it out. It was absolutely precious. Since then, she has done it several times and all in the appropriate "excited" context. Too fun.

The newest addition in our house...

No, it is not a baby or another pet, it is my sewing room! Well, it is actually 1/2 of the guest room, but it is my own space. The "sweat shop" that was the dining room had gotten to be too much. We started the sewing station there not knowing how much I would take to it. It turned out that I really took to sewing and my collection of "stuff" and projects had gotten to be too overwhelming for our dining room.

My sweet mother-in-law was here this weekend and she helped talk me through what I could do with what little space and resources I had. So, Steve and I rearranged some things in the house and this is what we came up with. It is not much, but it is al mine:)

I have b1g ideas about painting this room and making fun curtains for it.
I have an entire dresser filled with fabric that is organized by color.
Ribbons and tools all have their own place now.
For those that are interested, I have so many items that I have practiced with that are just piling up. So, for kicks I am going to throw them on ebay. We will see what happens. There are 4 sets of these- 2 burps and one bib.
This is how they are packaged for now. I have every intention of coming up with something cuter soon.

Picture Recap

For starters, I heard Emerson stirring this morning so I went in to get her. What did I find? She was sitting up and playing with her toys. I know you are all thinking, what is the big deal? Well, she has been pulling up from sitting position for weeks now, but she has yet to get from laying down to sitting. So, this is a big day!

Sticking out her tongue was big this week. She did it all the time. In fact a sweet family was behind us in line at Walmart. Emy was kind of playing with the little girl. The girl asked me if I taught her to stick out her tongue. I told her "no" that she just figured it out. The little girl responded with, well you need to tell her that it isn't very nice.
So happy to be standing and playing with her toys
Smiling for daddy
I WISH this would not have turned out blurry. First, there is a huge section of what we call "wild woman" hair sticking out and second, she looks like she is trying to imitate the band Kiss with that tongue- hillarious. So excited
Trying to crawl
First time with mashed potatoes. She really did like them all though it does not look like it.
So sleepy. I also with that this one would not have come out blurry. Too sweet.
This weeks creation. I must say that I LOVE this outfit. The skirt is seperate from the onesie.Isn't the matching "E" adorable???

What on earth have we been up to?

I feel like we have been so busy. The thing about it is that we have nothing to show for it. Emerson is still not actually crawling, but she is still getting into everything. I cannot imagine what our world will become when she is truly mobile. Yikes.

For those mommies out there, you know how the kiddos go through different developmental changes at different times--ie, one facet excels while everything else is on the back burner? Well, a couple weeks ago was the physical development- the pulling up and attempting to crawl. Now Emy has taken a break from that and is on to verbal development. She is talking and babbling all the time. It is absolutely precious. In the car, she stares in the mirror that is in the back with her and just talks to herself. The sounds are so sweet. Her favorites right now are Dada, Baba, Yaya and she FINALLY got Mama yesterday. Obviously, none of these "words" mean anything to nothing to her yet, but they will soon.

Also in the language development category, Emy understands A LOT. I have been practicing asking her to do simple things or telling her to stop simple things and she is starting to understand things. I can ask her to put something somewhere and she will do it. It amazes me how smart babies are! So, once this language phase is over, I know that she will be back to physical development and will surprise us one day by crawling all over the place!

Anyways, I just wanted to check in and let everyone know what was happening since I have not posted with an update (other than pics) in a while. Hope your weeks are off to a great start.
